with optional accessories including NIST traceable
dual thermocouples and calibration source instruments.
Phoenix satisfies the equipment requirements for
"electrically heated" furnaces in the following
methods:
ASTM, USP (281 - ROI & 733-LOI),
AOAC, FDA, ISO & DIN
Phoenix also meets the requirements
for applications listing a "microwave-heated"
furnace
Phoenix Muffle Furnaces
perform many high temperature applications
up to 97% faster than traditional muffle
furnaces, giving you more time to make adjustments
to your process and reduce out-of-specification
product.
Safe
Phoenix reduces exposure
to fumes and heat with a built-in exhaust
system that does not require fume hood space.
These rugged, durable furnaces features
door interlocks and built-in system diagnostics.
Accurate
Phoenix furnaces satisfy
standard methods that require electrically
heated furnaces. They have built-in calibration
software and NIST traceable accessories
are available.
Easy-to-Use
Auto-start software allows
pre-programmable warm-up and shut down.
Phoenix furnaces store up to 20 user-programmed
methods.
CEM
offers accessories for the calibration and
verification of the temperature control
circuitry to meet governmental regulations
for various applications.
Improve
Results with Quartz Fiber Crucibles
CEM’s unique, patented quartz fiber crucibles dramatically reduce ashing times and cool in seconds. The quartz fiber material allows oxygen to circulate around the sample speeding combustion even with our unique crucible caps in place.
Reduce analysis time by
as much as 97%!
Cools in seconds
No need for desiccation
Speeds sample oxidation
using a flow through advanced material
design
Withstands temperatures
up to 1,000 °C
Unbreakable
Crucible caps can be used with our 100 ml or 50 ml crucibles. Try them out next time you have to ash a sample that needs to be contained.
Ideal for low ash samples and samples with high organic content
Contains the sample when ignition occurs
Reduces contamination
Improves accuracy on ROI and LOI determinations
Self-Sealing
Quartz Crucibles
For oxygen-free ashing,
self-sealing quartz crucibles are available.
These crucibles can be used for Carbon Black
determination in polyethylene and polypropylene
and eliminate the need for slow, fragile
tube furnaces.

contracts and volume pricing are available
for quart fiber crucibles.
Calibration
Source Instrument (NIST traceable)
The calibration source
instrument and built-in system software
allow rapid calibration of the temperature
control circuitry of the Phoenix Ashing
Systems. A NIST traceable certificate of
calibration is supplied with the instrument.
Dual
Element Thermocouple (NIST traceable)
The type K Dual Element
Thermocouple contains two thermocouples
in one sheath. While one thermocouple controls
the operating temperature, the second thermocouple
can be connected to a digital thermometer
to verify the accuracy of the controlling
thermocouple. It is NIST traceable with
a certificate of calibration.
Digital
Thermometer
Verify the programmed
temperature by connecting the digital thermometer
to the reference thermocouple.
Cooling
Fan
The furnace cooling fan
rapidly reduces heat to the starting temperature.
All
Phoenix Ashing Systems are available with
workstation options including a balance
and printer.
Ash pharmaceutical raw
materials, excipients and finished products
in minutes, while safely removing and neutralizing
sulfur dioxide and nitric acid emissions
to meet ISO 14000 regulations. The
Phoenix Sulfated Ashing Option features
a vapor scrubber system to safely remove
harmful fumes from the furnace cavity and
neutralize any residual acid exhausted from
the sulfated ashing process.
Meets requirements for
USP 281 (ROI) & USP 733 (LOI)
Built-in serial and parallel
ports provide full documentation of method,
completion date, and time
Menu-driven software permits
simple entry and storage of operating
parameters for up to 20 methods
Rapid disconnect feature
allows system to be used as either a standard
ashing system or a sulfated ashing system
in less than 5 minutes without the use
of tools
All Phoenix
Ashing Systems are available with workstation
options including a balance and printer.
The Phoenix Workstation option
transforms your microwave muffle furnace into
a complete center for accurate ashing and data
compilation. The system utilizes the furnaces
built-in serial and parallel ports to connect
to a balance for weighing and a printer for complete
documentation of the ashing process to assist
you in complying with ISO and other QC requirements.
The Phoenix Workstation uses
a 100 g balance with 0.0001 g sensitivity for
sample weighing. The balance communicates directly
with the Phoenix furnace by a RS-232 port, which
is a standard feature in every CEM muffle furnace.
Once the sample has completed the ashing process
and has been reweighed, the user can choose to
print the sample results and information with
the Workstations printer.
The Phoenix Airwave meets the
most demanding requirements of large organic samples
with ease. This muffle furnace utilizes a patented
air amplified exhaust system to quickly and safely
ash samples, removing large quantities of air
and volatile by-products.
Legendary power at your fingertips!
Fast, accurate, easy-to-use
Eliminates the need for volume
reduction/carbonization on a Bunsen burner or
hot plate
Exhaust 130 CFM or more of air
per minute (adjustable)
Volume reduction of large samples
