Synthesis Option

Advanced Technology for Unparalleled Flexibility

The MARS System can be configured for organic and inorganic synthesis with a variety of vessel choices and turntable options. Both open and closed vessel reactions can be run in this multimode system, which can also accommodate accessories such as condensers and reflux glassware. Efficient, continuous microwave power delivery and CEM's advanced, proprietary vessel designs ensure controllable, reproducible reactions up to 100 times faster than conventional thermal heating

  • Reduce reaction times
  • Increase yields
  • Improve purities
  • Pathway simplification
  • Perform open vessel or pressurized reactions!

Open Vessel Options

Conventional round bottom flasks from 250 mL to
5 L with refluxing condensers can be used in a MARS System configured for Synthesis. The system can accommodate ground glass joints up to 29/42 in size.

Microtiter plates may also be used with the MARS Microplate Turntable. The turntable holds up to three 96-well microtiter trays and a temperature probe can also be utilized to provide temperature control of the process.

Closed Vessel Options

The easy-to-use MARSXpress vessels are great for parallel synthesis. Process up to 40 reactions simultaneously in vessels designed for temperatures up to 260 °C (PFA®) or 300 °C (TFM®) and self-regulating pressure control.

CEM's XP-1500 Plus and HP-500 Plus vessels provide additional options for increased temperatures or pressures and are available with either Teflon®, Pyrex® or quartz liners. A high-pressure 300-mL closed vessel is also available for laboratories needing to synthesize larger volumes.

Applications

MARS offers unmatched flexibility in a multi-mode microwave synthesis system and is ideal for:

parallel synthesis

discovery scale research

development scale up

academic lab classes
