CEM's award-winning Applied InnovationsT Technology Group works closely with our expert chemists to develop microwave technology tools that provide innovative and proven solutions for a wide variety of chemistries. CEM is committed to a strong R&D program, and to that end, we invest at least 10% of annual revenues in research and development. Every detail of our new products is examined thoroughly to be certain that they meet our high standards for performance, usability, and safety. After all, we are chemists, too. We understand that you don't need to waste time tinkering with a system. You want it to work the way you expect it to, without question. So, do we. That is why we design our systems with you in mind. Our goal is to make your work more productive.
R&D 100 Awards - A Rich Part of CEM History
CEM has received many awards since the Company's inception in 1978; however, the honor that is the most indicative of our engineering philosophy of excellence is the R&D 100 Award. Established in 1963, the R&D 100 Awards quickly became the weathervane of new technology, indicating the best and most significant in a variety of fields, prompting the Chicago Tribune to dub the awards "The Oscars of Invention." With over 70 judges selected from among professional consultants, university faculty and industrial researchers, the awards cover practically every aspect of research and technological innovation. Over the years, winning products have included Polacolor film (1963), the flashcube (1965), the automated teller machine (1973), the halogen lamp (1974), the fax machine (1975), the liquid crystal display (1980), the printer (1986), the Kodak Photo CD (1991), the Nicoderm antismoking patch (1992), Taxol anticancer drug (1993), lab on a chip (1996), and HDTV (1998).
